Viruly, Adriaan

Adriaan Viruly (1905-1986) had been a pioneer KLM Pilot from 1931 to 1954. In 1954 he was one of the most senior captains with KLM and head of the trans-atlantic route. His flying career ended in 1954 when the Lockheed Super Constellation "Triton" he was commanding ditched onto the banks of the Shannon River shortly after takeoff from Shannon towards New York.
After retiring from KLM Viruly continued writing book, his books were published from 1930 to 1982.
