Vickers Vimy
Bruce, J.M.
The Vickers Vimy was a two-engined British heavy bomber aircraft. Developed late in WWI the aircraft was operationally ready only after the Armistice of November 11, 1918. So the Vinmy did not see combat but became the core of the Royal Air Force heavy bomber force throughout the 1920s.
The Vimy is best known for the first non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic Ocean by John Alcock and Arthur Brown in 1919. The aircarft type made more record flights from England to South Africa and Australia.
