Flight Briefing for Pilots - Volume 2
An Advanced Manual of Flying Training Complete with Instructions
Birch, N.H. - Bramson, A.E.
Until the "Flight Briefing for Pilots" series was published there existed no officially recognized civil flying training manual, flying instructors relying upon R.A.F. works of reference while pupil pilots at best made do with typed notes and at worst learned to fly with no reading matter whatsoever. In conjunction with Volume 1 (the elementary manual) book represents the complete revised syllabus of flying training as devised by the British Light Aviation Centre and approved by the Board of Trade. They are only works of reference that have been approved for the training of flying instructors.
This enlarged edition of Volume 2 contains new chapters on Formation Flying and the I.M.C. Rating together with an Appendix containing the essential relevant extracts from the official Board of Trade publication concerning the I.M.C. rating. Like its predecessor, this edition provides background Information for the pupil and "patter" for the flying instructor. The set of four volumes represents the most comprehensive work of reference that has ever been availlable to the private or commercial pilot under training. It has become the Standard work of reference in many countries throughout the world, some of the volumes being required reading for several foreign Air Forces.
Both authors are Liverymen of the Guild of Air Pilots and experienced flying instructors with Commercial Pilots Licences. N. H. Birch is a Director of Hamilton Birch Aviation Ltd. and A. E. Bramson has for many years been a member of the Panel Executive and the Panel of Examiners responsible to the Civil Aviation Department (Board of Trade) for the testing and rating of civilian flying instructors.
