Arado Ar 234 Blitz
Smith, J. Richard - Creek, Eddie J.
First Edition.
Monarch Series No 1
Not as well known as the German Messerschmitt 262 jet fighter, but just as important to the German war effort, was the Arado 234 Blitz (Lightning). This jet-propelled, twin-engined and four-engined bomber and reconnaissance warplane was produced in comparatively small numbers, less than 300, but its advanced design and superb handling qualities, made it a well-respected and well-liked airplane. It performed well as a single-seat jet bomber but its greatest contribution to the German war effort was its ability to fly higher and faster than Allied fighters over enemy territory while taking valuable photographs for German planners. Authors Smith and Creek present here, for the first time, the definitive history of this remarkable WW II German warplane. This book is the first volume of several planned around specific German World War II aircraft. Subsequent volumes will be released at intervals.
